Contour 556 is a free public art biennial event organised and curated by Neil Hobbs, held around the heart of Canberra: Lake Burley Griffin. Following successful events in 2016 and 2018, the public event returns for three weeks in October 2020.

The 2020 event features over 60 local, national and international artists, working across sculpture, performance, sound and digital projections. Artists have been selected for their ability to respond to the designed city of Canberra: represented by Australia’s political, cultural and physical history.

This year the exhibition will reach more into private spaces around Canberra, including The Mixing Room Gallery at Thor’s Hammer. The following works will be exhibited here from

October 9th - 31st:

Alex Asch, HOUSE BRICK, 2020. Brick, timber, reclaimed concrete.

Mariliou Chagnaud, Wind Structure, 2019-20. Paper, digital printing, aluminium, stainless steel.

Karla Dickens, Colonial Bottom Feeder, 2018. Boat, Rust, Rope, Bones and Paint.

Ellis Hutch, The River Diary, 2020. Stop-motion animation, soundscape,  charcoal and watercolour drawings.

Rebecca Selleck, Invasive, 2020. Found objects.

Join our Meet The Artist event on Saturday 17th October at 1.30pm by registering here: https://bit.ly/contour556
