HARVEY TAYLOR HOUSE

The home owners and the architects came over early in the design process of this beautiful new home, and chose timbers from the large stocks available at our showroom and workshop. The timbers chosen fed back into the design, and we set them aside and stored them until they were ready to be used in the build.

The aim was to narrow down a final selection that fit with the look and feel of the house. Most of the timber you see in these photos is Spotted Gum salvaged from the Bicentennial Basketball Stadium in Penrith.

For the ceilings and feature walls the client asked us to select out boards with plenty of old line markings from the basketball courts. These had the tongue and groove machined off and the old face with the line markings was preserved as a feature. You can see in the photos how good they look attached to the ceilings and feature walls!

The same basketball stadium floor boards were also re-used as flooring throughout the house, but sanded and polished in contrast to the ceiling. Matching Spotted Gum re-milled decking was also supplied.

Using recycled spotted gum as flooring and decking is a smart choice of timber. It is super dense and durable and will last and look great for a long time.
