TRAY COLLECTIVE - A COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL DESIGNER CHELSEA LEMON
in 2019 we put a call out to our community to decide how to make use of some of our hardwood timber offcuts, with local designer Chelsea Lemon. We love the influence of nature that Chelsea includes in her work, from foliage and plant themes to dynamic geometric shapes and forms from nature - and were excited to see what she came up with.
The main brief was to make something useful from beautiful old timber that would otherwise have been repurposed as firewood, with the final product being decided by the community via a vote on instagram.
After many votes, the overwhelming majority tipped the decision in favour of a round serving tray with outer edge. After some prototyping, laminating, CnC’ing, sanding and oiling, the finished product was available for late in the year just in time for Christmas.
