ROCK MAPLE SALVAGED FLOORING FROM CHEVALIER COLLEGE
We’ve recently received this massive 900 SQM “Rock Maple” gym floor from Chevalier College in Bowral which was being replaced on insurance after some slight water damage.
The guys who supply the new gym flooring, Maxwood Technologies contacted us late last year and we ended up organising a team to pull up the old floor. This not only saved the flooring from landfill, but also saved removal and disposal costs for Maxwood. The flooring is now back here in our yard in Canberra and we are gradually cleaning and selling it, with a couple of hundred square metres still left in stock. It’s in great condition and we’re not really not sure why insurance paid to have it replaced!
This Rock Maple flooring is an amazingly heavy duty product made in Europe for bowling alleys and gym floors. It is extra thick and wide at 130x22mm and all the boards are long lengths averaging about 3.6m. The wide boards are made by perfectly dovetailing two narrower 65mm boards together - the machinery they use to do this process must be amazing!
The floor boards can be given a clean or just a very light sand to keep the character of the old gym markings, or they can be fully sanded back to give a light, clean appearance. Either way, it is perfect for a Scandinavian look and would also look great with a light lime wash style finish.
At time of writing we have approximately 300sqm left.
