IT'S WARMING UP WHICH MEANS IT'S OSMO TIME

The Osmo decking oils are an excellent way to protect your deck timbers from the harsh Canberra sun. They are based on natural oils which nourish the timber and allow it to breathe unlike water based finishes which can trap moisture and cause accelerated deterioration of timbers. The Osmo Decking Oils also include pigments to stop damage from UV, and you can choose a colour to match the natural colour of your timber. Like all Osmo products they should be applied thinly as they are concentrated to minimise use of solvents.
Because the Osmo is based on natural oils, it won't flake or peel, but just gradually dry out until the timber looks unfinished again and will need another coat applied. This may take anywhere between 9 months to 3 or more years depending how exposed your deck is to the weather.
We highly recommend the Osmo floor brush with telescopic handle for applying the decking oil. It means you can do nearly the whole job standing up (except for cutting in by hand near painted walls), and the stiff, wide brush makes it very easy to spread the Osmo quickly thinly for minimal waste. Clean the wide brush with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner after use, dry with a rag and then wash again with hot water and soap before storing the brush.
