Brushbox

Brushbox is usually found in building demolitions from Sydney and further north. It was often used in school & community halls, warehouses and factories.

TIMBER KNOWLEDGE Brushbox varies in colour from a rich reddish brown to a pinkish grey and often has a distinctive figure. The trees grow in north eastern NSW & eastern QLD forests, often found on the edge of rainforest pockets. Very hard wearing because of the high silica content but it does blunt blades very quickly.

Brushbox: Lophostemon confertus / Tristania conferta

USES The high silica content makes it very hard wearing and excellent for use as a floor. It’s distinctive grain and rich colours make Brushbox also useful in bench tops and furniture.
